🎯 Typische Aufgabenstellungen:
  • "Write a formal email to [Company/University] about..."
  • "You want to apply for a job. Write an email to..."
  • "Complain about a product/service in a formal email."
  • "Request information about..."

Unterschied: Formal vs. Informal Email

AspektFormal EmailInformal Email
Anrede Dear Mr Smith / Dear Sir or Madam Hi Tom / Hey!
Ton Höflich, sachlich, distanziert Locker, persönlich
Sprache Keine Contractions ("I am", "do not") Contractions OK ("I'm", "don't")
Schluss Yours sincerely / Yours faithfully Best wishes / Cheers / See you

Aufbau einer Formal Email

1. Subject Line (Betreffzeile)

Beispiele:
  • Application for the Position of Marketing Manager
  • Complaint about Order #12345
  • Request for Information about Your Products
  • Inquiry Regarding University Admission

2. Salutation (Anrede)

Name bekannt:
• Dear Mr Smith, (Mann)
• Dear Ms Jones, (Frau, neutral)
• Dear Dr Brown, (Titel benutzen!)

Name unbekannt:
• Dear Sir or Madam,
• To Whom It May Concern,

3. Opening (Einleitung, 1-2 Sätze)

Erkläre kurz, warum du schreibst:

  • I am writing to inquire about...
  • I would like to apply for the position of...
  • I am writing to complain about...
  • I am writing in response to your advertisement...

4. Body (Hauptteil, 2-3 Absätze)

Hier lieferst du Details und Informationen:

  • 1. Absatz: Hauptanliegen erklären
  • 2. Absatz: Details, Beispiele, Begründungen
  • 3. Absatz (optional): Weitere Informationen oder Fragen

5. Closing (Schluss, 1 Satz)

Bedanke dich und nenne nächste Schritte:

  • Thank you for your time and consideration.
  • I look forward to hearing from you.
  • Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need further information.

6. Sign-off (Grußformel)

Yours sincerely vs. Yours faithfully:

✅ Name bekannt: Yours sincerely, (Dear Mr Smith → Yours sincerely)
✅ Name unbekannt: Yours faithfully, (Dear Sir or Madam → Yours faithfully)

7. Signature (Unterschrift)

Dein vollständiger Name:

Yours sincerely,

Sarah Johnson

Formelle Sprache: Dos and Don'ts

Dos (So schreibst du formell)

  • Keine Contractions: "I am" statt "I'm", "do not" statt "don't"
  • Höfliche Formulierungen: "I would like to...", "Could you please...", "I would be grateful if..."
  • Passiv nutzen: "The product was delivered on Monday" (statt "You delivered...")
  • Indirekte Fragen: "I would like to know if..." (statt "Is...")

Don'ts (Vermeide in formellen Emails)

  • ❌ Umgangssprache: "Hey", "guys", "stuff", "a lot of"
  • ❌ Contractions: "I'm", "don't", "can't"
  • ❌ Slang: "cool", "awesome", "no worries"
  • ❌ Emoticons: 😊 😉 👍 (nie in formellen Emails!)
  • ❌ Abkürzungen: "ASAP", "FYI", "btw"
⚠️ Häufiger Fehler:
❌ Informal: "Hey, I wanna apply for the job. Let me know if you're interested."
✅ Formal: "Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to apply for the position advertised on your website. I would be grateful for the opportunity to discuss my application further."

Subject: Application for the Position of Marketing Manager

Dear Mr Smith,

I am writing to apply for the position of Marketing Manager advertised on your company's website on 15 January .

I have recently completed my degree in Business Administration at the University of London, where I specialized in digital marketing. During my studies, I gained practical experience through an internship at ABC Marketing Agency, where I worked on social media campaigns for international clients. I am confident that my skills and enthusiasm make me a strong candidate for this position.

I have attached my CV and a letter of recommendation from my supervisor for your consideration. I would be grateful for the opportunity to discuss my application further in an interview.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

Sarah Johnson
